In the Netherlands, general practitioner care is arranged as follows:<\/h3>\n

On Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm you can go to a GP in your region for non-urgent medical care. The GP EMERGENCY post is only for medical care that (medically) cannot wait until the next working day. The doctor\u2019s assistant will assess whether care is needed now or whether you can go to a doctor\/GP on a working day. The first aid in the hospital is not directly accessible. The GP emergency post will refer you to the first aid if necessary.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Name, address and date of birth;
\u2022 EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) or insurance details;
\u2022 Name of your own doctor;
\u2022 Names of medicines (if relevant);
\u2022 Passport or identity card;
\u2022 Urgency;
\u2022 When you call Huisartsenspoedpost Oude IJssel, you will first hear a selection to determine the urgency of your phone call. You will be asked to dial 1 in case of a life-threatening situation and dial 2 in case of non life-threatening situation. If you dial 1 you will be given priority.<\/p>\n

Procedure<\/h3>\n

The doctor\u2019s assistant is the initial contact person at Huisartsenspoedpost Oude IJssel She is especially trained to determine what kind of medical assistance is needed.
In most cases she will be able to provide you with advice over the telephone. If necessary she will consult one of the doctors, who is always present at the practice, or she will connect you directly to him. The advice provided by the doctor\u2019s assistant will always be checked afterwards by the doctors on duty.
When advice by telephone will not suffice, she will make an appointment for you at Huisartsenspoedpost Oude IJssel , or she will plan a doctor\u2019s visit to your adress in case you\u2019re not able to come to the practice for medical reasons.<\/p>\n

Huisartsenspoedpost Oude IJssel is only open outside office hours. Monday until Friday, from 5 pm to 8 am. In the weekends from Friday 5 pm to Monday 8 am and on public holidays.<\/p>\n

Costs<\/h3>\n

Cost for consulting Huisartsenspoedpost Oude IJssel will be covered directly by your health care insurer.
People who live abroad (even if you have insurance) are obliged to pay a fee (except when you\u2019re in possession of an EHIC). When you return home you can collect payment from the insurance company with the receipt.<\/p>\n
